Tor has a nice piece up today acknowledging the work of Japanese anime great, Noboru Ishiguro. His work spanned several decades and really helped cement the space opera genre in Japan. I remember watching Space Battleship Namato as a kid and desperately wishing I could step on board and look around. Years later, while living in Taiwan, I saw a die-cast replica for sale ($!) in an upscale toy shop and almost had an aneurysm. Sad to hear he’s passed.
